Step Three: The Exit

As you're lying there with the knowing that you're going to exit.  Practice a few things.  Imagine seeing the room through your eyelids.  Imagine moving from corner to corner of the room, around the ceiling a few times, then around the floor.  Gliding silently behind the dressers, under the bed.  Don't try to hard to PICTURE what it would look like, just sense it.  You'll keep getting details that you don't necessarily expect, this is good.  Allow yourself to be surprised.  This is a big part of it.

There are many exit techniques to help get you out.  One is imagining or sensing a ladder reaching through a hole in your roof and continuing into a hole right through the earth below your chair or bed.  Loosen your astral arms from your body (often the first things to free up) and use them to climb up the ladder, or pull the ladder down through your body for a while, like a ladder-treadmill.  If the ladder is too elaborate, use a rope in the same way.

You can imagine you're in a glass elevator going down, down, down, along the side of a cliff.  You're watching the cliff rise in front of you as the ladder goes down forever.  Keep trying to reach out with your astral hands, through the glass wall, and cling to the cliff and let the elevator drop down without you, leaving you free to fly.

Take a look, there are several.  In my experience these don't work right off, but after you give up, you'll randomly pop out of your body.  So they do work eventually!
